What is Cranial Osteopathy?
Cranial osteopathy employs a range of techniques that are safe, subtle, and non-manipulative, which makes it a suitable treatment for children and babies, as the skeleton is softer than adults, and the techniques used are very gentle. The techniques used in cranial osteopathy are suitable for children at all stages of development. Needless to say, cranial osteopathy is also a safe and effective treatment for adults who do not suit the more physical approach of classical osteopathy.
Our cranial osteopath Tamille holds special Osteopathic qualifications in Paediatric Osteopathy. Tamille often works with local health workers, mid-wives and breast feeding counsellors.
Our specialist Cranial Osteopath
Tamille Phillips, our cranial osteopath, holds specialist, post graduate qualifications in paediatric osteopathy. Herself a mother of two, she has worked at the Stourbridge practice for over ten years, predominantly with babies and children, but adults too. Tamille works closely with Leanne Cruickshanks, who is our in house “tong tied” specialist. Leanne is an experienced midwife who has specialised in breastfeeding problems and tongue tied babies for the past ten years in the West Midlands area.
Tamille also works with other local health visitors, midwives, NCT groups and lactation consultants.
Osteopaths are trained to screen for medical conditions so if Tamille thinks you need to see another health professional she will advise you.
If you think that you, your baby or your child may benefit from cranial osteopathy, please call us for a FREE consultation. Tamille will ask various questions, particularly about childbirth, was your baby delivered using forceps, ventouse or caesarian, were they breached, do they sleep well, feed well, do they cry too much, etc.? On the basis of these brief questions, she will be able to determine if it is worth treating or not and then the choice is yours if you wish to progress or not.
